Maybe it was because they wanted to impress Chris Bosio.

With the major league pitcher starting for the JetHawks on a rehabilitation assignment Monday night, the hitters finally provided some clutch production in a 9-8 victory over the Visalia Oaks before 679 at Recreation Park.

The JetHawks (3-2) took a 9-2 lead in the top of the eighth, but barely hung on as the Oaks scored six runs in the final two innings and had the tying and winning runs on base when Tom Szimanski struck out Rodrigo Barajas on three pitches to end the game.

Shane Monahan, Jose Cruz Jr., Carlos Villalobos, Jason Cook and Luis Molina each had two of the JetHawks’ 11 hits. Cruz and Cook each had two runs batted in.

Bosio pitched four effective innings, throwing 55 pitches and yielding just two unearned runs.

He was scheduled to throw 80 pitches, but had to leave the game with a blister on his right hand.
