The Palm Springs Walk of Stars will dedicate a star Saturday at 4 p.m. to veteran writer-director Burt Kennedy, who has written, directed or produced more than 75 films. Best known for his westerns, such as “Welcome to Hard Times” and “Support Your Local Sheriff,” Kennedy wrote the scripts for a series of classic westerns starring Randolph Scott and directed by Budd Boetticher.

Starting in radio as a writer, Kennedy later joined John Wayne’s Batjac Productions. Currently working on a documentary on John Ford, Kennedy is a member of the Golden Boot Awards committee for the Motion Picture and Television Fund.

The Palm Springs Walk of Stars is a nonprofit organization dedicated to celebrate local pioneers and the many Hollywood celebrities who have played in the desert community.
