U.S. Takes Over Suit Against Teledyne: The federal government is taking up a whistle-blower’s complaint that Teledyne Industries Inc. concealed the loss or theft of military aircraft parts. The Los Angeles company blamed the problem on two former employees and said authorities are exaggerating the loss. The accusations were originally set forth in a sealed 1991 complaint by former Teledyne employee Gerald Dean Woodward. At the request of the Justice Department, the seal was lifted so that the government could file a lawsuit to replace the one filed by Woodward. The new lawsuit, alleging millions of dollars of fraud, should be filed in federal court in Springfield, Mo., within three weeks, Woodward’s attorney, Bill McDonald said.
