When Is the Lead Too Big to Run?

Share

Will someone please tell me why Dodger teammates are verbally beating up on Roger Cedeno for stealing second in the ninth inning at San Francisco while leading 11-2?

Isn’t the purpose of the game to win? Has everyone forgotten previous late-inning Dodger collapses when they lost after leading by a margin like this? Using current Dodger logic in similar circumstances, should batters not try to hit the ball? Should batters hitting a ground ball not try to beat the throw to first base? Should runners on third base not try to score on a sacrifice fly?

That phrase, “It’s not over until the fat lady sings,” seems most appropriate here. The Dodgers owe Cedeno an apology!

I didn’t watch the Dodger game Wednesday, but from what I read, Roger Cedeno is my hero. I am appalled at the Dodger players and coaches for blasting the rookie after the game. Especially you, Karros. You should be able to handle the media by now.

And isn’t this the Giants? Who cares what Baker and Scarsone and Williams say? They are the enemy.
