No Quarter Asked at Santa Anita

I am adamant in the belief that a two-furlong race has no place on any bona fide thoroughbred racetrack.

I am speaking of the race now being carded twice a week at Santa Anita. The best that can be said is that it is a classic quarter horse distance. If Santa Anita is going to mix quarter horse racing with thoroughbred racing, let them say so. What’s next, the one-mile trot?
