First American Appoints 2 Executive Vice Presidents

* Craig I. DeRoy, general counsel, and Thomas A. Klemens, chief financial officer, have both been named to the newly created position of executive vice president of First American Financial Corp., a Santa Ana provider of real estate-related financial services. DeRoy is general counsel and Klemens is chief financial officer. Both had been vice presidents of the company.

* Shakeel H. Rizvi has been appointed vice president of operations for the Denny’s restaurant chain in Irvine. He had been field service director for Denny’s in Northern California. Rizvi is now responsible for the more than 345 company and franchise restaurants in California and Nevada. Since joining the company in 1985, Rizvi, has also been region leader in Southern California and Hawaii and regional director of operations in Southern California.

* David R. Butler has been named vice president of sales for State of the Art Inc., an Irvine accounting software developer. He was formerly area director of sales for Lawson Software. Butler also held sales and sales management positions at MAI Basic Four and Jonas & Ericson Software Inc.

* Annie Gerard has been elected 1996 president of the Seniors Housing Council, an arm of the Building Industry Assn. She is senior vice president of Market Profiles in Costa Mesa.

* Philip Hashimoto has been appointed vice president of EQE International, a consulting engineering firm. Hashimoto is a group manager for the Americas division engineering operations in Irvine and business manager for Department of Energy projects.

* Gilbert Fell has joined Coldwell Banker Commercial Affiliates Inc., the new commercial business unit of Coldwell Banker Corp. in Mission Viejo, as vice president, commercial affiliate services. The new company, formed in January, will begin franchising independent commercial real estate companies during the second quarter. Fell, previously first vice president of Homart Development Co., is based in the Coldwell Banker regional office in Oak Brook, Ill.

* Gary Smith has been named marketing manager for Xerox Corp.’s Orange County, San Diego County and Las Vegas operations. He was formerly manager, major account contract sales. Smith will remain in the Santa Ana location.

* Jonathan B. Eddison has joined Pinnacle Micro Inc., an Irvine recordable CD technology and optical storage systems company, as vice president, general counsel and secretary. Eddison was previously senior counsel at Epson America Inc. Before that, he was senior counsel for Pacific Enterprises, a utility company.

* William Woollett has been appointed to the Irvine Medical Center board of directors. He has been the chief executive officer of the Transportation Corridor Agencies for the past six years.

* Brent Hyder has been named district manager of 11 Mervyn’s stores in the San Diego, Riverside and Orange County areas. Hyder had been manager of the Glendale Galleria store since last October.
