Obituaries : Gwendolyn D. Meadows; 41-Year County Resident
Gwendolyn D. Meadows, a Camarillo homemaker and 41-year Ventura County resident, has died after a sudden illness. She was 61.
Meadows was born Feb. 22, 1935, in Kansas City, Mo. In 1954, she married Robert Meadows and soon moved with him to Ventura County to be closer to his family.
After living in Ventura, they settled in the Santa Rosa Valley. While Meadows worked at the Point Mugu Naval base, his wife stayed at home to raise their children.
She became involved in the Lions Club and sometimes manned the concession booth at local sports events, said her daughter, Roberta Klaus of Ventura.
Robert Meadows died in 1977. Gwendolyn Meadows also was preceded in death by one of their daughters, Jewel Meadows, who died in 1981.
In addition to Roberta Klaus, Meadows is survived by daughter Susan Armstrong of Pittsburg, Calif.; a son, B. Ray Meadows of Camarillo; five grandchildren and one great-grandson.
Visitation will be held 5 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Pierce Brothers Griffin Mortuary in Camarillo. The funeral service will begin at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at the mortuary chapel.
