Perceptronics Receives $100,000 Research Grant

Perceptronics Inc., a Woodland Hills maker of computer-based simulation systems and software for commercial and military training, said it received a $100,000 research grant from the National Institutes of Health.

The grant is to help the company demonstrate the feasibility of using computer pattern recognition technology to screen and detect diabetic eye disease. If successful, the project could result in a low-cost, computer-based diagnostic system that could be made accessible to large populations, it said.

Jonathan Javitt, a Georgetown University Medical Center professor, will be Perceptronics’ research partner and subcontractor on the six-month program.
