Ten members of the Moorpark Chamber of Commerce are heading to Sacramento to attend a legislative conference for small-business leaders in California.

The Small Business Legislative Conference, which starts today, will cover such subjects as pending political action, tort reform and taxes.

The Moorpark delegation will attend sessions covering issues important to local businesses, said Carolyn Schrimpf, an administrative assistant with the chamber, who will attend the conference.

“We’ll also be learning what we can do to effect legislation,” Schrimpf said.

The conference is sponsored by the California Chamber of Commerce and the Western Assn. of Chamber Executives and is expected to draw more than 800 business leaders from cities across California.

The list of scheduled speakers at the conference includes Gov. Pete Wilson, Secretary of State Bill Jones, State Controller Kathleen Connell, Assembly Speaker Curt Pringle and Senate President Pro Tem Bill Lockyer.
