Planners OK 105 Homes in Orchard
Ventura’s Planning Commission has approved plans to build 105 homes on a lemon orchard in Saticoy.
The proposal is expected to go to the City Council for final consideration in late May or early June.
Wittenberg-Livingston Inc. of Newport Beach plans to build single-family homes on a 19-acre site near Saticoy Avenue and North Bank Drive, adjacent to Southern Pacific railroad tracks.
The project, which would be built near an existing Wittenberg-Livingston housing tract, would require the extension of North Bank Drive, the construction of a sound wall and the addition of a small park.
In 1994, the council gave the developer the right to build houses on the land during the city’s biennial housing-allocation process.
For the project to go forward, the council must approve a zoning change from agricultural to residential, as well as permits and a development agreement.
