About 5,000 parents, teachers, students and administrators are expected to attend the California State PTA’s annual convention today through Sunday at the Anaheim Hilton and Towers hotel.

More than 60 seminars are scheduled over the four-day conference, eight of which will be translated into Spanish. They include discussions on information technology, school reform, building bridges with principals and preventing teen violence.

Today, various state and local leaders will address the PTA delegates, including state schools Supt. Delaine Easton and Anaheim Mayor Tom Daly.

PTA delegates also will vote on resolutions on class-size reductions and playground equipment safety standards.

“Delegates can expect four days filled with important information and excitement that will send them home with new ideas and enthusiasm,” said Rosaline Turnbull, the general chairman of the convention.

“It is important for each one of us to make a difference for all children in our communities.”
