Youth / News for the 18-and-under crowd : City Seeks Candidates for Youth Committee

The city is seeking candidates for six vacancies on the advisory Youth Committee.

The Youth Committee consists of nine students in grades 7 through 10. Three adults also serve on the panel, one from the City Council and two from the city staff, including the Police Department.

“The responsibilities of the committee are the development and implementation of the teen programs under the auspices of the Recreation and Community Services Department, in conjunction with the Police Department,” a city spokesman said.

The committee, which meets once a month, is also responsible for promoting the programs at schools and across the community.

Candidates must be city residents who are in junior high or high school.

Application forms are available at City Hall and the library. The deadline for nominations is Friday.
