UCI Women’s Soccer Gets Six Recruits

The UC Irvine women’s soccer team announced the signings of six players to letters of intent Wednesday.
Joy Avedesian, a forward from Arcadia High; Robyn Leonhardt, a goalkeeper from Rosary; Cherise Heep, a midfielder from La Canada; Laura Lamb, a forward from Edison; Heidi Reinhard, a defender from Crescenta Valley; and Wendy Yokoyama, a midfielder-forward from Torrance, will join the Anteaters next fall.
Irvine was 12-4-3 last season and ranked as high as 14th nationally.

Akrum Alrahib, a forward from Arcadia, and Josh Giles, a guard from Glendora, signed to play basketball at Concordia, Coach Greg Marshall said.
Alrahib, 6 feet 6, averaged 25 points and 12 rebounds for Arcadia. Giles averaged 24 points and 4.5 assists for Glendora, Southern Section I-A runner-up to Mater Dei.
