The Classics

Julius Caesar would feel right at home in rooms adorned with fabrics and wallpaper in the Italia collection for Motif Designs.

Pat Farrell, known for her success with bed and bath products for Springmaid, drew on her studies of Italian art and design to bring Italian style to today’s interiors.

Attention to detail is important in Italian design, and the Italia collection stays true to form. Glints of gold are sprinkled throughout the collection, offsetting the jewel tones and hues in the weave of the fabrics.

The wallpapers duplicate the look of tile mosaics and grains found in marble.

Most of the colors in the collection are taken from the Mediterranean. They include azzuro, blush, maize, terra cotta and verde.

Farrell, who earned a master’s degree in graphic arts in Florence, has created 15 fabric, 15 wallpaper and four border designs, most available in a variety of colors. The wallpapers range from $20 to $24 for a 4 1/2-yard roll; borders are about $18 for a 5-yard roll.
