HIGH SEAS ADVENTURE: The Jamaican government proffered a profuse apology last week to Jimmy Buffett, U2’s Bono and Island Records founder Chris Blackwell for a January incident in which police mistook them for smugglers and fired on the seaplane they were flying to Buffett’s boat.

Buffett has accepted the explanation that it was an error, but that won’t stop him from releasing a song he wrote about the affair. “Jamaica Mistaica” will be featured on “Banana Wind,” an album due in June. Lyrics aren’t available, but the song is said to recount the pursuit and assault, which left bullet holes in the plane and shook up the targets--Bono’s family was accompanying him.

The tale will also likely turn up in Buffett’s concerts when the perennial box-office force returns to the road in the summer.
