Still Time to Plant Gladiolus for Summer

Share

If you’ve been a slow starter on your gardening this year, you still have time to plant gladiolus bulbs for bloom this summer.

To ensure uniform plantings, plant all corms at an equal depth. Large corms are planted 4 to 6 inches deep in loose soil, only 3 to 4 inches deep in heavy soil. Space them apart in single rows and where double rows are planted; stagger the bulbs.

Group plantings of 8 to 10 bulbs make a good border fill-in. They are especially effective when planted in a single color. Use a pelletized bulb food or bone meal about an inch or so under the corms but not in direct contact with them. Then get ready for spectacular cut flowers.
