Cal State Northridge continued its futility against UCLA in a 15-12, 10-15, 15-9, 15-9 loss in the semifinals of the Mountain Pacific Sports Federation men’s volleyball tournament Friday night at University of Hawaii.

Fifth-ranked Northridge (16-12) dropped its 11th consecutive match to the second-ranked Bruins (24-5), including three this season. The Matadors have a 2-34-1 overall record against UCLA and have not beaten the Bruins since 1992.

This is the first season since 1993 that Northridge advanced past the first round of the MPSF playoffs. That season, the Matadors reached the NCAA finals but were swept by UCLA in the championship match at Pauley Pavilion.
