Police Arrest 2 in Carjacking at Motel
Ventura police arrested two men Sunday in connection with a carjacking on East Thompson Boulevard, authorities said.
Lawrence Badgett, 35, and Jonathan Floyd, 34, both of Oxnard, remained in Ventura County Jail on Sunday night, their bail set at $50,000 each.
According to Ventura police, the two met an acquaintance at the City Center Motel, 837 E. Thompson Blvd., about 2 p.m. For unknown reasons, they demanded the keys to the acquaintance’s car, then drove off. The car’s owner then called police.
About 40 minutes later, police spotted the car--a gold 1995 Nissan Maxima--heading west on Harbor Boulevard. The drivers pulled over to the side of the road, just west of Sanjon Road, and were taken into custody without incident.
Police said no weapon had been used in the carjacking, and no one was injured.
