A bluegrass band and a Mexican folk-dance group will be the highlights of a family fiesta to celebrate Cinco de Mayo at El Rancho Structured School in Camarillo on Friday.

“Our goal for the evening is to provide a fun-filled community-building atmosphere, “ said teacher Jane Pidduck. “The community is invited to attend an evening of games, food and entertainment.”

The celebration will begin at 5 p.m. with a variety of games for children. Somis Market will serve a meal of enchiladas, tacos, beans, rice, chips and salsa between 6 and 7 p.m. for $2.50.

Grupo Folclorico Mixteca, an international family-oriented dance troupe, will perform at 5:30 p.m.

It will be followed by Cletus Bumpus and the Other Guys, a bluegrass and country band. “They have played together long enough to develop a following at their regular appearances at Tommy’s Drive-In in Camarillo,” Pidduck said.
