Reuters
TAIPEI, Taiwan —
Police arrested a man Thursday on charges that he kidnapped his son and demanded $111,000 in ransom from his wife, authorities in Taiwan’s northern Taoyuan County said.
A police officer alleged that the man, identified only by his surname, Yang, kidnapped his 7-year-old son after school Wednesday and forced him to swallow three sleeping pills to keep him quiet.
He then demanded the ransom from his estranged wife.
Four suspected co-conspirators also were arrested.
