Police Rarely Use Station, Donor Says

Lee Sudman spent $800 on a wall to create space for a police substation in his furniture store on Market Street in downtown Inglewood, but now he’s miffed that police have barely used it since it opened in November.
“I’m not saying the station should be manned 100% by the Inglewood police,” Sudman said Monday. “But at least give the businessman a shot. . . They have used the substation maybe once.”
But Inglewood Police Chief Oliver Thompson said his officers are out walking a beat and patrolling the streets instead of sitting behind a desk at the substation. “I believe their complaints aren’t justified,” Oliver said.
