Second ‘Day of Dialogue’ on Race to Be Held May 31

Los Angeles City Councilman Mark Ridley-Thomas has declared May 31 as the second “Day of Dialogue” on race, and is planning scores of workshops throughout the city.

Inspired by the verdicts in the O.J. Simpson double-murder trial and Louis Farrakhan’s “Million Man March” in Washington, last October’s Day of Dialogue brought thousands of Angelenos together in more than 100 groups to talk about race relations.

Now with the “California civil rights initiative” on the November ballot, Ridley-Thomas wants the second “Day of Dialogue” to focus on the issue of affirmative action.
