License Fees Increase for Unaltered Dogs

Share

Beginning Thursday, all licensing fees for unaltered dogs will increase from $20 to $30, according to the Los Angeles City Department of Animal Regulation.

The fee for a dog that has been spayed or neutered will remain $10.

A city license is required for all dogs 4 months or older.

The City Council passed the new measure to encourage dogs owners to have their pets spayed or neutered in an effort to control overpopulation.

The rate increase, approved in April, will also help defray the operational costs for the Department of Animal Regulation and increase revenues to the city’s general fund. The Department of Animal Regulation provides comprehensive animal care and control services through six citywide centers.
