Off and Running

Put some vrrroom in your room with racing car borders from Village.

The borders work at ceiling level, as a chair rail or above the baseboard in a teenager’s room, a family room or home office.

They come in two styles. One features National Assn. for Stock Car Auto Racing cars rounding the bend with checkerboard flags unfurled and the stands overflowing with fans.

The other has front views of the cars and the logos for the NASCAR courses.

The borders (about $22 for a 5-yard roll) are prepasted and are a zip to clean.

Safety Blinds

Vertical blinds can enhance nearly any room. With so many styles and colors, they work with any decor.

However, vertical blinds do pose a threat to young children, who can become entangled or even strangled by exposed cord or chain loops hanging from them.

Three Day Blinds hopes to reduce this threat by offering free retrofit kits to all its customers.

Included in the kit offered by the Anaheim-based corporation are tassels and a tilt chain to keep all cords and loops out of the way of little hands.

The kits are available at any Three Day Blinds store in Orange County.

Nuptial Notations

Congratulations, the wedding was a success. And now it’s time to show your appreciation for all the wonderful gifts you received.

Only problem is you’re fresh out of words for the 200 or so thank-you notes you must send. Not to worry.

“The Bride’s Guide to Writing Thank You Notes” by Laura Robbins of Laguna Niguel has everything you need, with more than 100 sample notes. There are notes to family members, wedding party members, close friends and even some for those who are not so close.

Robbins came up with the idea for the book after receiving compliments on the wording of her thank-you notes. All of the sayings were created by Robbins. Her husband, Mel, designed the book’s cover. “After I was bombarded with thank-you notes, I felt there was a real need for this,” Robbins says. “If you change a few of the words, the samples will work for nearly any occasion.”

The book (about $13 plus shipping and handling) also has lists to organize names for holiday cards and, when the time comes, birth announcements.
