Carson Task Force to Resolve Conflicts

Share

The city of Carson has formed a task force to resolve conflicts before they start and to foster positive relationships among residents.

The Human Relations Mutual Assistance Agreement is designed to combat conflicts based on race, religion, gender, sexual orientation, age or disabilities. The task force is made up of city officials, volunteers and Human Relations Commission members who will act as mediators.

“Los Angeles County is one of the most diverse areas in the world,” Carson Human Relations Chairwoman Mary Salas said. “We must make a strong effort to be more aware of the things we have in common and be more respectful of our differences.”

The group is developing a response plan for dealing with conflict and will begin tackling problems in the community once members complete workshops on conflict resolution and hate crimes.
