Obituaries : * Marjorie Chapman; Legal Secretary
Marjorie V. Chapman, a legal secretary for more than 35 years, died Thursday of cancer. She was 70.
Born in Ventura, Chapman graduated from Ventura High School and received an associate of arts degree in 1942 from Ventura College.
Chapman took great pride in her profession and served as president of the Assn. of Legal Secretaries. She last worked for the Ventura law firm of Benton, Orr, Duval and Buckingham.
“She was a very loving person, always taking care of people,” said Chapman’s brother, Joseph Chapman of Ventura. “She took care of our mother, our father and anyone else in a bind.”
Chapman is also survived by brother Lawrence Chapman of Bakersfield, and by sisters Mary Johnson, Ramona Lodl and Marion Chapman, all of Ventura.
Rosary will be recited Sunday at 7 p.m. at the Joseph P. Reardon Funeral Home in Ventura. Mass will be celebrated Monday at Our Lady of the Assumption Church in Ventura at 9 a.m.
