P&G; Buying Baby Wipes Business: Procter & Gamble Co. said it will purchase the business of the former Scott Paper Co. from Kimberly-Clark Corp. for $220 million. The agreement is subject to review by the U.S. Justice Department. Antitrust authorities in the United States and Mexico had required Dallas-based Kimberly-Clark to sell off some assets as a condition for approval of its merger last year with Boca Raton, Fla.-based Scott. P&G;, based in Cincinnati, said it will buy Scott’s flagship baby wipes brand, Baby Fresh, as well as Wash-a-Bye Baby and Kid Fresh wipes. The acquisition would include worldwide trademark rights, product technologies and patents, and Scott Paper’s baby wipes manufacturing plant in Dover, Del., which employs about 270 people.
