Officers Awarded Medals of Valor
Anaheim Police Officers Tim Garcia and Jeffrey “J.J.” Imperial have been awarded the department’s Medal of Valor.
The officers received the awards during a banquet last week at the Disneyland Hotel.
Garcia was seriously wounded in a shootout with an assault suspect last September at an Anaheim motel.
Imperial came to Garcia’s aid in the incident.
The suspect, a twice-deported illegal immigrant, was killed in the gun battle.
The shootout resulted in the city asking the Immigration and Naturalization Service to station agents at the City Jail. They are working there on a trial basis.
