Bay Dredging Plan Just a Power Grab
* When the people of Trabuco Canyon alter their landscape by grading it, they are breaking the law. When the people of Newport Bay want to alter their landscape by dredging it, they not only get the help of “county, state and local agencies” but also expect to soak the taxpayer $5 million to pay for it. (“Dredging Could Protect Marshes of Newport Bay,” April 22.)
I thought the “enviros” wanted to keep nature as is to prevent the rest of us evil human beings from interfering with natural events. Yet the Newport Bay people now say that nature actually threatens the ecosystem.
What’s wrong with this picture?
Could it be that “environmentalism” is really just a cover for politically connected groups to seize state power and taxpayer money for their own personal agendas? Nah!
