Gov. Angus King knew he would face a range of constituent demands when he took office, but he never dreamed increasing iguana access to medical services would be one of them.

King said his office recently received an angry call from a man who complained his pet iguana had bitten its tongue. The man said no veterinarians were willing to treat the pet and demanded to know, “What’s the governor going to do about it?”

“We get them all,” King told a conference of mental health professionals. King did not say what action--if any--he planned to take on the man’s concerns.
