Couple Donate Sailboat to Group for Disabled
A 50-foot sailboat blew into town over the weekend, anchored at the downtown Long Beach Marina, and off rolled Duncan Milne, veteran skipper.
The boat is the gift of a Ventura couple to a group founded by Milne, Access to Sailing. Milne, who is disabled, challenges permanently disabled patients in hospitals across Southern California to explore their capabilities through the joys of sailing.
The boat will be refurbished by the group with help from disabled patients at the local Veterans Administration Medical Center. Once it is shipshape and disabled accessible, the boat will join the Access fleet, giving patients free, recreational daytime trips.
