Train Trip to Benefit Closed AIDS Hospice
Christopher House, the struggling Ventura AIDS hospice, is inviting its supporters to hop aboard the Short Line Express today for a train ride benefit.
En route from Fillmore to Santa Paula, riders can attend a wine tasting, dine and listen to a banjo, guitar and violin trio.
The Short Line Express departs Fillmore station at 5:30 p.m. and pulls into Santa Paula at 9 p.m. Passengers will also be able to bid on a magnum of chardonnay, a trip to Channel Islands or a session at a local spa, among other items, during a silent auction.
Proceeds are to be used to help Christopher House, a Ventura shelter for homeless people with AIDS, reopen in August. For more information or to obtain tickets (prices are $20 and $40), call Howard Dye at 658-7044.
