VIRGINIA : North Urges GOP to Oust Sen. Warner

Oliver L. North, who blames his 1994 U.S. Senate defeat on opposition from Sen. John W. Warner (R-Va.), urged Republicans to oust Warner in a June 11 GOP primary. North told delegates to the Republican state convention in Salem, Va., to vote for challenger James C. Miller III, a former Reagan administration budget director who lost the Senate nomination to North two years ago. North, the retired Marine lieutenant colonel who was a key figure in the Iran-Contra scandal, said he would not run as an independent if Warner wins the primary.
