Friends of Chinatown Library Honor Teens
Four Granada Hills High School seniors were among 11 students citywide honored with scholarships by the Friends of the Chinatown Library.
Simon Lee, Sueanne Lee, May Lim and Mao Yik each received $1,500 scholarships at a special awards dinner in Chinatown Friday night. Among the criteria for the scholarship is a requirement for the applicants to make regular use of the Chinatown Branch of the Los Angeles Public Library. Carol Duan, senior librarian at the 20-year-old branch, explained that the facility attracts patrons of Chinese descent from throughout Southern California, particularly on weekends.
