Beckman Instruments Inc. Appoints 2 Vice Presidents

* James Kirkpatrick has been appointed vice president and director of diagnostics for North America operations and European tactical marketing for Beckman Instruments Inc. in Fullerton. Kirkpatrick, who joined Beckman in 1978, had been director of sales for the diagnostics division. Edgar E. Vivanco has been named vice president for Beckman’s Biotechnology Development Center. Since joining the company in 1971 as a microbiologist, Vivanco has been director of worldwide reagents and chemical processing, technical operations manager, production manager, site manager and manufacturing manager.

* Bijan F. Hagh has joined Brown and Caldwell, an environmental engineering and consulting firm in Irvine, as air quality manager for Southern California. Before joining Brown and Caldwell, Hagh was an air quality manager for CH2M Hill, a research engineer at UCLA and a process engineer for Farmland Industries.

* Suzi Good has been selected document solutions operations manager at Xerox Corp.’s South Coast operations in Santa Ana. She was the systems sales manager in Orange County for the past 12 years. Good joined Xerox in 1975 as a marketing representative in the San Gabriel Valley.

* Eckard Weber has been appointed senior vice president of research/drug discovery for CoCensys Inc. in Irvine. Weber, who has 20 years of drug discovery research experience, was a co-founder and chief scientific officer of Acea Pharmaceuticals. He joined CoCensys’ board of directors in June 1994 when CoCensys acquired Acea. Also, James H. Coleman has been named vice president of commercial development. Coleman was previously a worldwide strategic marketing director at Pharmacia & Upjohn Inc. Rick A. Henson was appointed vice president of sales and marketing. He had been vice president of sales.

* Willie J. Hagan has been named vice president for administration at Cal State Fullerton. He had been associate vice president for administration at the University of Connecticut.

* Richard J. Rengle has joined Allied Biotechnology International Inc., a health-care products developer in Costa Mesa, as director of property acquisition. Irma C. Buscemi has been named government affairs specialist and Richard M. Hall has been appointed director of operations of special projects.

* W. Douglas Hajjar has joined the board of directors of Platinum Software Corp., an Irvine provider of financial accounting software. He will continue as chairman of the board of Control Data Systems Inc.

Sheila M. Muldoon has been appointed general counsel for ARV Assisted Living Inc. in Costa Mesa. She joined the company last year as general counsel after being a senior attorney in the Irvine office of the Federal Deposit Insurance Corp., responsible for failed bank subsidiaries and their assets. Before that, she was a partner with the law firm of Higgs, Fletcher & Mack in San Diego. Charlotte de Ulloa, previously benefits and safety administrator, has been named director of human resources for the company. Paula Hertel was named to the newly created position of vice president of strategic planning. She will be responsible for the coordination of current facility operations and new services provided to residents. Since joining the company in 1988, Hertel has served as director of marketing for the Northern California region and director of licensing and government relations. Caryn L. Raphael, who had been vice president of investor relations, was named to the new position of vice president of corporate communications.

* Michael A. Altstatt has joined All Seals Inc. in Santa Ana as national sales manager. He was previously responsible for western sales at the Automatic Answer in San Juan Capistrano and was director of marketing for the Bank of Westminster.
