Kids to Learn of 4 Cultures Through Arts

A program to introduce children to different cultures through arts and entertainment will be offered this summer in Thousand Oaks.

The youth cultural program, sponsored by the Thousand Oaks branch of the American Assn. of University Women, will include arts, crafts, drama, folklore, food, games, music and dance of Greece, the American South, Peru and Polynesia.

Children entering grades one through six will be eligible to attend the program, which begins July 8 and ends Aug. 2. The classes, grouped by grade level, will be held from 9:15 a.m. to 12:15 p.m. Mondays through Fridays. Every Friday from 11:45 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., the children will present to their parents a program demonstrating what they have learned.

The summer session, which was awarded the Excellence in Arts award from the Thousand Oaks Arts Commission in 1992, will be held at the Arts Council of the Conejo Valley at 482 Greenmeadow Ave. in Thousand Oaks.

Cost is $50 per child per week. Children may be registered for any or all weeks. Greece will be the topic from July 8 to 12; the American South will be addressed from July 15 to 19; Peru will be highlighted from July 22 to 26; and Polynesia will be the subject from July 29 to Aug. 2.

Registration deadline is June 14.
