Libraries Will Get New Fax Machines

Fifteen fax machines have been donated to the county’s financially troubled library system in a move that officials said will improve service for patrons.

The machines will replace 10-year-old outdated models which can no longer be maintained because parts are not available. The Board of Supervisors accepted the gift from Toshiba America International Inc. this week.

County Librarian John M. Adams said the machines, valued at a total of $13,400, will be placed in various branches so that, if one location doesn’t have the materials a patron needs, it can be faxed over from another.

The machines will be placed in the Brea, Costa Mesa, Cypress, Dana Point, Fountain Valley, Irvine, Laguna Beach, La Palma, Rossmoor, San Juan Capistrano, Stanton, Villa Park and Westminster libraries and two Garden Grove branches.
