Gibraltar Border Delays to Continue

Share

Travelers from Spain to the Gibraltar Peninsula will have to put up with continuing delays at the border until the British colony does more to stop drug smuggling, the Spanish Foreign Ministry said last week. A senior British official recently protested border delays of up to six hours at Gibraltar, calling them “absolutely unjustified and completely unacceptable.” Spain plans to retain the strict border controls that were applied after a Spanish policeman was killed in April when his helicopter crashed while chasing a Gibraltar-registered speedboat loaded with hashish, according to the Associated Press.
