San Diego Padre catcher Brad Ausmus was suspended for one game by the National League for bumping umpire Mike Winters and throwing equipment during a weekend game.

Ausmus appealed the penalty, which included a $1,000 fine, and remains eligible to play pending a hearing.

However, Ausmus said he’ll drop the appeal when Manager Bruce Bochy feels he can afford to lose him for a game.

On Sunday, Ausmus was ejected after arguing a called third strike. He rushed Winters and got in his face, and brushed his arm against Winters’ chest.

Ausmus also slammed his bat into the rack and tossed his batting helmet.
