North Hollywood Reverses Itself, Beats Panorama City

After losing four of its first five games, North Hollywood West won its fourth consecutive game, handing Panorama City its first defeat, 5-2, Tuesday in a District 20 game at North Hollywood High.

Ismael Rangsiyawong drove in three runs for North Hollywood West (5-4) with a double in the first inning and run-scoring ground balls in the third and fifth.

Cesar Soto (3-1) struck out five and scattered five hits in four innings and Merrill Dunn retired nine of 11 batters over the final three innings to get his first save.

Phillip Allsup had two hits and Seth Barkley hit a home run for Panorama City (6-1).

West Hills 9, San Fernando 6--Ryan Hamill of West Hills (4-4) drove in three runs, two on a double in the sixth inning of a District 20 game at San Fernando High.

Jorge Rocha was three for three with three runs batted in for San Fernando (2-6).

Newhall-Saugus 11, Palmdale 6--Luis Sanchez drove in three runs and Kevin Hyde knocked in two for Newhall-Saugus (6-1) in a District 20 game at Canyon High.

Rick Thomas got a save with three shutout innings in relief of Steve Redfern (2-0).

Central Valley 12, Van Nuys West 2--Vince Kolbe hit two doubles and drove in three runs for Central Valley (5-1) in a District 20 game at Cleveland High.

Valley North 8, Granada Hills East 7--Frank Dipoma, who hit his third home run and doubled, Tom Morfield and Travis Winn each drove in two runs for Valley North (8-2) in a District 20 game at Burbank High.

Greg Wold (2-0), who tripled and homered, pitched the eighth inning for the victory, striking out two and retiring three batters in order. Jon Garland’s two-run single in a four-run sixth for Granada Hills East tied the score at 7-7.

Santa Clarita South 7, Antelope Valley South 4--A triple by Eric Horvat in the top of the seventh broke a 4-4 tie in a District 20 game at Antelope Valley High. Bobby Graves (2-0) struck out five and allowed an unearned run in two innings of relief.
