Rapids Perfect in Shootout, Beat Crew

Colorado scored on all four of its shootout attempts, and Chris Woods allowed only one goal in the tiebreaker as the Rapids defeated the Columbus Crew, 3-2, on Wednesday.

Before 13,093 at Ohio Stadium, Marcelo Carrera scored for Columbus to tie the score, 2-2. Then in the shootout, Chris Henderson, Scott Benedetti, Shaun Bartlett and Richard Sharpe all scored.

New York/New Jersey 1, Dallas 0--Matt Knowles and Miles Joseph scored during a shootout to back the goalkeeping of Tony Meola, as the MetroStars defeated the Burn at East Rutherford, N.J.

Meola made four saves in regulation, and held Dallas scoreless in the shootout. The victory snapped a two-game losing streak for the MetroStars (5-8), who are 3-0 in shootouts.
