NICARAGUA : Contras Release Kidnapped Officials

Several dozen election officials kidnapped this week by rearmed Contras were released, Nicaraguan Foreign Minister Ernesto Leal Sanchez said. Another official, from the Agriculture Department, said all were reported “safe and sound.” Government officials had been reporting that 33 election workers were captive, but an unconfirmed report later put the figure at 35. There was no immediate word on whether the kidnappers had received any concessions from the government.
