SHOWS FOR YOUNGSTERS AND THEIR PARENTS TOO : The ‘Muppets’ are back on ABC; TBS sets up a ‘Parent Trap’; ‘Ducks’ are mighty again on Disney

The 1961 comedy The Parent Trap (TBS, Sunday at 7:35 a.m.) finds Hayley Mills trying to match up Maureen O’Hara with Brian Keith. Hayley plays twins, separated at birth, who meet after their divorced parents send them to the same summer camp. Thereafter the girls are consumed with trying to reunite their parents. For ages 5 and up.

Muppets Tonight, on hiatus since March, returns this week (ABC, Sunday at 7 p.m.) In this episode, guest star Sandra Bullock and the Muppets “speed” to the edge of disaster when a madman threatens to blow up the Muppet Studio if the show’s rating dips below 50. For the family.

In D2 The Mighty Ducks (Disney Channel, Sunday at 7 p.m.), Gordon Bombay (Emilio Estevez), sidelined by injuries, agrees to return to coaching the misfit Ducks. A sequel to “The Mighty Ducks,” it features the hockey squad being asked to represent the United States at the Junior Goodwill Games in Los Angeles. For the family.

Peter Straus, Jean Smart and Wil Horneff star in The Yearling (CBS, Sunday at 9 p.m.) The story is adapted from the 1938 Pulitzer Prize-winning novel of the same name by Marjorie Kinnan Rawlings, about a boy and his pet deer, Flag. In this rebroadcast of the 1994 version (there was also an Oscar-winning film in 1946), Horneff plays Jody Baxter, who lives with his father (Strauss) and his mother (Smart) on a swampy central Florida farm. The boy’s older brothers and sisters have all died in infancy, so his mother is afraid to show her love for her son and husband. For 10 and up.

Ron’s father (Hal Williams) comes to visit him on Minor Adjustments (UPN, Tuesday at 8:30 p.m.), but his constant attention gets on Ron’s nerves. The father is trying too hard to make up for not spending more time with his son (Rondell Sheridan) while he was growing up. For 8 and up.
