2-Year-Old Girl’s Death Under Investigation

OXNARD — Authorities are investigating the weekend death of a 2-year-old Oxnard girl who for unknown reasons stopped breathing.
About 10 p.m. Saturday, the Oxnard Fire Department received a report of a child not breathing on the 1700 block of Saratoga Street. When paramedics arrived, they found Joselyn Hernandez lying in the yard. Joselyn’s mother was giving the child cardiopulmonary resuscitation.
Joselyn died later at the hospital.
Oxnard police said there was no apparent cause of death.
The Ventura County coroner’s office performed an autopsy Sunday but were awaiting test results before determining the cause of death.
