Public Education for Illegal Aliens

Re “Dole Endorses Prop. 187 Limits on Schooling,” June 20:

There are no illegal children, only illegal parents. Or have we gone full circle and come back to the proposition that the sins of the parents are visited on the children?

Does former Sen. Bob Dole want the presidency so badly that he is willing to depart the tenets of his own religious background? It would appear that his position on abortion does not extend to preventing the annihilation of the educational lives of countless numbers of innocent children and their futures, as well.

Perhaps the supporters of Prop. 187 might consider recalling their own cultural and educational upbringings and review their position, with the above beliefs and teachings as a frame of reference.

* Re “School Door Should Not Be Closed to Immigrant Kids,” editorial, June 12:

You concentrate on the desirability of education and overlook the matter of availability! Our classrooms are overcrowded and our teachers unable to handle the load as it is. Adding immigrant “kids” to the already swollen class sizes is not the answer; not to mention the cost to taxpayers, which is excessive and unbearable.

Let’s take care of our own, first! Let’s encourage Mexico to educate its own and discourage illegal immigration by refusing all tax-supported benefits, which are lowering our standards to those of our neighbors!
