Susan Wood Meltzer; Actress Appeared in ‘Picket Fences’

Susan Wood Meltzer, 68, an actress who most recently appeared in the popular television series “Picket Fences.” After earning a degree in theater at the University of Iowa, Meltzer studied at the American Academy of Dramatic Arts in New York and privately with Uta Hagen. In 1957, she obtained a master’s degree in clinical social work from UCLA and worked for nine years in the psychology department at County-USC Medical Center. She returned to acting in recent years and was a resident member of the California Cottage Theatre, appearing in “Matinee, Heddy,” “A Necessary End,” “Nepenthe Sundown” and other productions. Working with such actors as Gene Wilder and Broderick Crawford, she appeared in several regional theaters including the Derby Playhouse, Hedgerow Repertory and the Cleveland Playhouse.
