From Times Staff and Wire Reports

Scarlet and her kittens have earned a life of luxury, and that’s what they were promised as they headed for their new homes. “They have their own room, and my husband is building them a 10-foot cat condo, and they’ll have special treats,” said Debbie Palmarozzo, who got two of the kittens. “They’ll have it made; they won’t want for anything.” The mama cat became an instant celebrity when word got out about how she plucked her five kittens one by one from a fire in an abandoned building in Brooklyn on March 30. One kitten later died of a virus, the remaining kittens were adopted in pairs, and Scarlet got her own home. Scarlet’s scarred skin and singed fur have healed but she may require further surgery for scarring around the eyes.
