Disney Names Visual Effects VP

Art Repola has been named senior vice president of visual effects and production for Walt Disney Motion Pictures Group.

* Sony named Mitchell Cannold president of Sony Online Ventures.

* As part of a major reorganization of the Industrial Light & Magic computer graphics department, Gail Currey has been promoted to director of digital production operations for ILM and H.B. Siegel has been appointed to the newly created post of chief technical officer for Lucas Digital.

In her new post, Currey will assume daily management of all computer graphics production operations, including two-dimensional production, 3-D animation and technical director groups. She will also oversee computer graphics activities for ILM.

Siegel will have overall responsibility for the direction of technology for Lucas Digital, including video engineering and information services and the software group.

Both Currey and Siegel will report to Jim Morris, president of Lucas Digital.

* Kevin Breen has been promoted to senior vice president of business and legal affairs for Walt Disney Feature Animation and Walt Disney Theatrical Productions.

* Caroline Andoscia has been named president of production for Lynda Obst Productions.

* MGM/UA Home Entertainment has reconfigured its marketing department, promoting Chris Saito to director of marketing for rental, Cordelia Tappin to director of marketing for sell-through and Alison Fortner to manager of marketing for sell-through.

* Andrew M. Kairey has been named executive vice president and Patti Jackson has been promoted to vice president of programming for MCA/Universal Home Video.
