An Ojai man was being held Tuesday in the Ventura County Jail after being arrested for allegedly selling drugs to undercover sheriff’s deputies.

Detectives arrested 40-year-old David Wayne Jost late Monday at his home in the 1200 block of Sierra Court.

The arrest came after a two-month investigation that included several undercover drug buys from Jost, who allegedly sold marijuana and methamphetamines, said Lt. Craig Husbands, who heads the Sheriff’s Department’s narcotics division.

Jost flushed most of his stash of drugs down the toilet before detectives could arrest him, Husbands said. Detectives found only about $1,000 worth of drugs on him, and confiscated other drug-weighing and packaging paraphernalia, Husbands said.

Jost is being held in lieu of $20,000 bail. He is set to be arraigned today on charges of selling marijuana and methamphetamine, a jail spokesman said.
