Share

Prosecutors from around California will be converging on Ojai this afternoon for a weeklong conference that will cover such things as the changes in how DNA evidence is used and the state’s “three strikes law.”

On Tuesday morning, Gov. Pete Wilson will give the keynote address for the conference sponsored by the 2,300-member California District Attorneys Assn.

Along with Wilson will be victims’ advocate Fred Goldman, whose son Ron was killed with O.J. Simpson’s wife, Nicole, two years ago.

The conference will also feature a witness of the year award for Kate McLean and Gillian Pelham, who witnessed the abduction of Polly Klaas by Richard Allen Davis. The two young girls testified at Davis’ trial. He was convicted last month of killing Klass and awaits sentencing.

The association will also bestow its prosecutor of the year award on Paul Zellerbach, a Riverside County deputy district attorney, and John O’Mara, an assistant chief deputy district attorney in Sacramento County. The conference will begin in earnest on Tuesday with a welcome address by Ventura County Dist. Atty. Michael Bradbury.
